Speaking during the launch of the discount card at Bayshore Complex on Friday, Minister of Industry Commerce and Business Development Senator Lynette Eastmond said the company had started out small in Trinidad, branched out into Tobago and was now moving around to other Caribbean countries promoting the card.
"I would have to thank Caribbean Discount Card for actually bringing an example of a small business person who started to work in Tobago, then branched off into the Trinidadian market. This is what the CARICOM Single Market and Economy is all about.
"I have spoken at so many functions about the CSME and I still believe that within Barbados some of us believe that our Prime Minister is going down teh wrong road with the CSME. I am very pleased that somebody, even though it is someone from another country, actually recognises the vision of the Prime Minister in seeking to promote the CSME."
Chief executive officer of Caribbean Holdings Limited, Sherwin Peterson said when the card was launched, it was designed to give discounts throughout the Caribbean.
He said in Barbados holders of the card would be able to benefit from discounts at some businesses.
